I have actually read through all the threads relating to this, but it's a contentous issue to say the LEAST so I would be eternally grateful if somene could give me the quick/definitive answer!

I'm currently running 1.07, on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Which of the available BIOSes should I flash to, if any?

    Thank you very much!

BIOS 1.16 is the most recent. It solves the problem of Acer Arcade booting instead of Windows.
Possible issue- some people have reported that it erases the serial number of the board/unit which results in a need to re-activate Windows by phone.
I didn't have this problem although I had updated 6920G with 1.16 BIOS.

General rule is do not update unless either you’re trying to solve a problem (and there are no release notes) or the release notes indicate it's an important update.

Thank you for the quick reply.

As it happens, I just bought the laptop and the Win7 on it is dodgy and MS have realised - it says "This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the corner - so knocking out the serial would be an advantage haha!

I am having some slight battery charging issues, and 1.07 is an old BIOS, so I think it's probably worth updating?

We can't and won't discuss anything related to piracy here but your notebook is licensed to use Vista- it should have a recovery partition and a sticker with a product key. That's what you can use- if you want Win 7 you need to purchase it separately.
As for the battery- in my opinion batteries used in 6920G were of poor quality as they tend to lose capacity rather quickly.
If you're having problems with battery it’s most likely that- you would need a new one to solve that.
You can upgrade to 1.16 if you want though.

Ah no, I'm as anti-piracy as the next bloke.

I bought the laptop off ebay in good faith, but the copy of win7 on it has turned out to be dodgy! I might downgrade to Vista, as yes there is a Vista sticker on the base.

    Thanks again for your help!

How many 6920G's have you had this experience with? Maybe bad luck? Or I have good luck... I just recalibrated my battery today and I'm at 18.3% wear in my almost 3 year old 6920G (purchased mid 2008, I believe when it just came out).

There are several types of batteries used in 6920G and I suspect that Sony ones are not very good- not only in 6920G. And I've had to do with Sony...

What is the manufacturer of your battery? Mine is Sanyo. As for the BIOS, I would upgrade from 1.07 if you're comfortable with flashing it.

Exactly- Sanyo batteries are very good while Sony batteries are not.
So yeah- I got Sony. My current laptop uses Sony too and it loses capacity twice as fast as my previous one(Sanyo battery) did.
BIOS is up to date with 6920G.
