On a desktop, you can open it up and remove the battery on the motherboard for about 10 minutes and it'll forget all the passwords and everything - not sure whether it works on a notebook or not though - sorry. Can someone else back me up on that before I recommend opening up the computer?

Can a mod please lock this thread. Upgrading a BIOS will not cause a hard drive password to become locked in place. I am sorry but even if the notebook belongs to you, here on NBR we don't discuss methods to bypass system passwords of any kind.

but i`m not asking for a solution to bypass the password ... I ALREADY KNOW THE PASSWORD IM THE ONE THAT SET IT .... but i find it annoying to have to type it in every time i boot the system....and after the bios upgrade the option to change the password or remove it has been locked .... i was hoping there was a solution to enable it again .... i wouldn`t ask about this if i wouldn`t know the password :D .... its just iritating having to type the password every time i boot ... after the bios upgrade , the option to change or edit the password isn`t available ... it only says hdd user password locked .... :|

LE : is there a way to downgrade the bios to default version or something ... ? so i can acces the option again ... i`m not asking for solution to bypass password only solution to acces the option again ....

LATER LATER EDIT : ... ok ... if anybody else has this problem ...i found the fix ... after you type the hdd password ... reset the laptop and enter bios and the option will be available to change the password ... if you shut down then it won`t be available anymore until you enter it ... :) sorry for any inconvenience and for my bad englis...

Go back to an older bios and see what happens.
