If you pushed in the headphone jack you will need to take the back three screws holding the PCB plastic cover off first (the three behind the pc.... 2 are by the DVI connection and 1 is by the locking cable).

Push your LCD monitor all the way open so it is resting horizontally to the rest of the pc.

Take a flathead screwdriver and gently pop off the front faceplate that is just above your keyboard (it is the large plastic piece that is covering your power button etc.)

You should have access to the device from there (lord willing) if you don't then take the keyboard off and keep working your way down.

I took the time to tear down my own 5672 this morning to show you pictures of how it is done. Check the images below ;)

This is the intial layout of the pc :) Lets get started

Step 1 is to turn the pc around and take out the three screws in the back. Two are by the DVI and 1 is by the locking security cable.

Closer up view of the two screws that need to be removed

Here are the screws removed. Very simple and straight forward.

Open up the laptop so you can pop the top plastic covers / plate that protects the hinges.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Notice the small openings on the front of the plastic? Pop the front up gently and go from there. The next step is to pop the back and top parts of the hinges off. Do not attempt to pop the sides off, you will see why in later pictures!

Here is the 5672 with the front cover off. Notice that you could very easily remove the keyboard by taking two small screws off from the front and then pulling forward gently while lifting up. The reason I say this is because there are corner sections on the plastic peice that hook into the other parts of the laptop (look at further pictures to see what I mean).

Here are the corner peices I was taking about ;) Simply go in reverse order to put it back together!

As far as accessing the modem it is sodered to the motherboard, so if it is pushed in and broken then you are SOL unless you re-solder it. If it is still working simply take a flathead screwdriver and push it forward again. If you can not do that, you will need to take the LCD monitor off and then break down the pc to another level and taking off the underside pcb that the keyboard rests on.
