    Hey all,

I'm soon to be the proud owner of a brand new Acer 5672 (80gb HD, 1Gig RAM, x1400 model).

As I am a hobby games programmer and due to budget have had to go for the x1400 model, I'm interested in knowing how to pump out every last bit of power I possibly can out of the x1400. I gather people have had 3dMark05 scores of between 1600 with stock settings up to around 2100 overclocked.

Now unlike games programming, I'm no expert on overclocking and have wondered if it is possible to unlock any pipelines or do anything more in the way of overclocking and squeezing out all possible preformance short of rendering the card dead :p. Is this possible on an x1400 or is overclocking the memory as much as i can hope for?

I'd love to hear from anyone in the know, in return I'll try to post as much as I can about my experiences with the laptop once it has arrived! (Here's hoping they get the order wrong and send one with an x1600 by mistake... I can only dream :p)

    Many thanks,

    Steve

    Hey Steve,

They do have 5672 with ATI X1600 models released in different countries. But all 3DMark scores of the ATIX1600 seem to point that they are at least twice as powerful to the X1400. So you might want to reconsider the specs for your new notebook.

overclocking your x1400 is considerably tougher if you happen to have gotten the Hypermemory. If not, you can overclock it by using ATI Tool, or Riva Tuner
