Ordered My Acer TM4501 !!!!

Oooh ooh , I just ordered mine from www.newegg.com, took 2 day shipping too.
I just hope I wont be disappointed. I have taken it for college. So obviously wanted mobility. Long Bat life, less weight. I am also a gamer - not a great deal but I keep up with all the latest ones and the Radeon in this thing was a big pull. I hope it will run Sims 2.
Please say I havent made the wrong desicion. I am an international student and havent got a lot of financial resources so hopefully it will erun for at least 2 to 3 years if not more.....

 

Dude, that laptop kicks some serious....
Let's jsut say that I am very happy with it and it does not disappoint.
Let us know what you think when you get it.

Also, what kinda carrying case are you gonna get?

cloud: thanks for the info, i sure hope it lives upto my own expectations.

As for carry bag, i was thinking of getting a sleeve at first and then maybe if my own backpack doesnt fit it, getting a new backpack with laptop padding or something. As mentioned I am taking it for college so the backpack will be used for some books etc.
The Targus one u suggested is not for me since I cannot be taking that to college. So mayybe ill buy something of that sort only when I leave the country for visiting home (next summer).

Question!, I saw this in the User Manual:

Important! When you launch the DVD player for the first time, the
program asks you to input the region code. DVD discs are divided
into 6 regions. Once your DVD drive is set to a region code, it will
play DVD discs of that region only. You can set the region code a
maximum of five times (including the first time), after which the
last region code set will remain permanent. Recovering your hard
disk does not reset the number of times the region code has been
set. Refer to the table later in this section for DVD movie region
code information.

It can be found at the acer website.
Can some1 tell me how to get around this since i will be taking this between US and India back and forth?

 

Regarding the DVD Region, you should be able to download free software that allows other region discs to work on your drive. Just do a search for "DVD Region" under Google, you should be able to find some there. You may still have to select a region for your player the first time.

Also, try afterdawn.com for forums and info relating to DVD region coding/unencoding and ripping. It's like here but exclusively for DVD issues.

also, i also want to know region free myself, i play region 1 and 3 all the time (neeed those desis movies to keep up the culture here!!)

Yeh I also spent many sleepless nights over this deciding. I almost bought a Dell 9100 because I was getting a 330 dollar off on it (Coupon Code) but my friends stopped me from buying that 10 lbs beast. God bless them. This is lighter and better (I hope this will run my games).

it is a pretty good case i have heard if not, check fatwallet for the targusguy and he has some pretty nice deals on the matrix and other backpacks.
Co-incidentally a friend of mine was going through the same 9100 vs 4501 and he bought the 9100 yesterday!

nice! i just recieved one from newegg also
it's running so good...i'm really impressed

i was having some problems with the wireless at first, it was super slow, and taking forever to connect. but then i connected it direcly with ethernet, it was super fast, and then when i tried the wireless again it was super fast! go figure

been thinking about a getting a bag, but haven't seen anything nice in shops

does anyone have a link to the online manual, it seems the one that came with it is very incomplete
