well, basically i was messing around with my mother's acer laptop and decided to go on a messenger. I notice the webcam and decide to try it. It worked but when i turned it so it can face away from me, my brother tells me i turned it the wrong way. Now when i try to run it, it says it is unplugged.

Is there a solution without having to tell my mother or taking the laptop out of the house? Please help

All movable acer webcams on the LCDs have stickers below them that show which way to turn them and which way not to turn them. If you didn't pay attention to this and have damaged the webcam cable you will have some explaining to do to your mom as the only way to fix this issue would be to send it to acer.

The drivers are most likely not an issue since it worked in messenger the first time. Try a reboot and see if the cam is detected at all or if it still works in messenger.

well if your mum's out of the house, you could try to replug it.

plug the battery out, and make sure the laptop doesn't get power from any source.

depends on the model now. you might have to remove the screws from the middlecover, unless you have a 51xx-Model. Just pull the middlecover to the left.

the connector of the cam is near the powerboard on the right side.

I would not try that if I were you. Inorder to take apart a notebook successfully you will need a service manual which you don't have. The service manual will detail exactly how to take apart a notebook and service it. I wouldn't attempt to fix anything without it. Besides the "plug" or cable that runs to the webcam on the LCD is behind the LCD panel therefore you will have to disassemble the LCD housing to even get at it and I suspect you may have broke the cable (near the top) by turning the cam in the wrong direction.

Even though I have the service manual for my 5102 I would never attempt such a thing, if you break the LCD in the process you will be looking at $400-500 ;). Send it to acer that way you can be guaranteed that if anything goes wrong it is their technician's fault and not yours. Perhaps you can pay your mom back over time.
