I just got my 8204 and the Orbicam is very unfocused and it leaves a trail whenver it moves with a 1 second delay. I was in a store today playing with a Aspire thas has the same OrbiCam and it was 1000x better, sharper, and didnt have the lag that mine does? Is there a software solution or is my camera messed up?

I would check to see if you have the low light boost or color boost on. I notice these slow the response down a bit. Possibly the resolution - is it on 4mp? After those, see how many programs are running and how much cpu and ram they are using. That could bog it down. After that, I don't know what else.

On a side question... When I open the orbicam interface it tells me the camera is being used by another application? What!?! The green LED isn't on. Is there some unwanted program on my laptop that is spying on me?

wow thanks iceman, i turned off Light Boost, and it runs perfectly now! just like the MacBook Pro Isight! ColorBoost can stay, but the light boost was killing it. Thanks again!

unfortunetely with the Light Boost turned off, it makes the webcam almost unusable and way to dark unless you are in a totally lit up room. I wonder if there are other drivers for other cameras that we could use for the OrbiCam cause these drivers are just not cutting it. external webcams and Sony Webcams never have such problems using their own equivilent of of Light Boost.

I'm sportin an Acer aspire 5670. I usually have the low light boost on an the response is tolerably well. You could try messing around with the brightness, contrast, saturation, etc. to lighten it up a bit.

I just got an Aspire 5102 and, unlike the Travelmate 8204, it doesn't seem to allow video recording, only stills. Is there a way to record video?

    Thanks,
