I have had an acer Aspire 5633wlmi with XPmedia center edition for about 6 months now, and been fairly happy with it.. despite lack of real graphics etc. i have used the eRecovery facility a coupla times when things have gotten dodgy and its worked fine. however, i have just realised that it has disappeared... after i reformatted last, i later had to change the name of my laptop to avoid duplicate names on a network, and i started to have issues with monitor.exe finding an invalid license id. then, i noticed that my antivirus had caught erecoveryuninstall trying to uninstall it!!! i cannot access erecovery, despite using windows restore to go back as far as i can. and the recovery discs that i made originally dont work! how can i restore my system, as i dont have a windows disc, only the faulty restore discs? i dont mind if in doing so i lose all the acer c**p they put on in the first place, just want a stable pc...

i re booted my acer using the the dvd the machine asked to burn on first startup.
i changed the boot order in the bios to cd1st/hdd 2nd.
then i rebooted with the dvd in the drive.and it had none of the third party software on it :)
    have you tried this ?
the other way is check in the bios that D2D recovery is enabled.
then restart laptop press Alt+F10 at the first screen.this should restore laptop to factory state, but you will get all the empowering junk back.but this can be removed using add and remove in control panel.
    hope this helps.

all the up to date drivers can be found here. http://ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/

for some reason erecovery is gone pretty much, and my backup discs dont work... d2d is enabled i already checked, although maybe if i reorder my bios as i already have the dvd above hdd... i'll try that now. alt F10 doesnt work, as erecovery is absent...
nope, changing bios order made no difference...
