Hello, I got the Acer Travelmate 3201XCi not to long ago. I´m pleased with it. However, there is one major poblem. The noise.

I have tried shutting everything off, putting the CPUspeed to low and setting the Graficcard to long baterylife. Still, it goes 5 min without the fan turning a single time, then it turns on and makes a quite iritating noice for 20 sek after withc it goes off again. This is when the computer is idling, I´m not even using word.

Is there any way to get rid of this?

    nic,

Does this happen when it is running off the battery or when you have it plugged in with the AC cord?

It hapends boath when it´s running on battery and AC. Wheter it is running on hig or low CPUspeed and if the videocart is set to performance or long battery doesn´t seem to have any major impact on hov often the fan jumps in.

yepp, it´s not a major problem at home but it can bee quite anoying in librarys and other public places.

It´s not to bad to have the fan running but there only seams to be two speeds, "high" and "realy high".
