I cannot tell if Acer is just trying to get out of honoring my warranty or they are just do not do support on weekends. The site says 7 days a week for support but I had been working with support Friday night but after that they stopped responding to my warranty confirmation emails for an RMA.

Anyone else able to get a response from Acer support this weekend?

I was able to get a hold of them by phone and was told they cannot help me on weekends because my phone number does not match for my warranty. I guess the reseller typed it in wrong it for the warranty since one it was one digit off.

Now have to wait to normal business hours to get the one digit off phone number fixed before they will help me even though my name and address matches. Unbelievable.

I am in the U.S - NY. They have since followed up by email this afternoon and sent me the depot address in Temple, TX to ship it to.

Kind of suprised Acer does not have any drop off locations other than Temple, TX because the cheapest 3 day shipping quotes are around $44 for Fedex and UPS.

I know exactly what you mean. Had to ship my laptop to Texas under warranty and it was not fun.

In Canada, the depot's in Mississauga, Ontario. Funny how that one's closer and they're still saying to send it to Texas.

Good point, would be interesting to see the difference in shipping cost and customs headache.

Every time I've had to deal with Acer support, I've found it to be terrible. I wouldn't be surprised....

I remember in the very early 90s Acer had a VAR program where you could be an authorized Acer depot. I thought the program my business had signed up for and was approved handled warranty repairs but it was so long ago I cannot really remember the details all that well. This is why I was surprised since I believed they had something like that before the dot com boom but nothing but Temple, TX today.

I moved on to other things in the corporate IT world soon after I was approved but are curious does anyone remember when or why they discontinued the program or have something like that in place today? I hear they are number 2 these days in the US but everyone deals with Temple, TX?

Acer still has somewhat of a VAR program but it is mainly towards sales and not service. Best Buy used to be (kinda still is) an authorized repair depot for Acer. They have a facility in Kentucky that does repairs. Some desktops from Acer have onsite warranties which use local techs but none for notebooks. It's easier to control quality at one facility versus dozens or hundreds.

I asked Acer support and was told I could only take it Temple, TX. I had hoped I could take it to Best Buy rather than ship it since they are close to me. Maybe that only works if you buy it there.

Normally it is only if it is purchased at Best Buy.

That's silly, because the quality at the Texas facility was terrible- not sure If I'm the only one that had a bad experience with that. :p
(I'll never forgive them for what they did to my baby. :3)
