    When trying to play a movie on Acer 5735 w/Vista, the audio plays but I get no video.

    The HELP isn't much help.

    I've checked for the latest updates on Vista and Acer Arcade.

    Thank you. I'll try this.

    How is someone suppoosed to know that a Codec Package is required? Or for that matter, how do I even know about these things? Is it just a matter orf asking folks who have blazed the trail?

    It can be frustrating, I remember first getting vista and having this problem, it was a complete pain. Anyway, hope it works out. If it doesn't work, don't hesitate to post back.

    Sorry for stealing your topic. I have a problem with Acer Arcade too. My problem is a bit different though. When the Vista is running and I press the Media button (some kind of happy human pictograph on the right side) on my 5920G it launches Windows Media Center. It plays all the videos just fine, it even opens the subtitles. The problem is, when the laptop is powered off, when I press this button it starts the Acer Arcade and when I try to open some of my videos it says "corrupted file" or something like that. Why is this?

    Installed Vista Codec package but no luck with the video. Should I uninstall this codec and try the K-Lite?

    I would recommend KLite Mega, it plays everything i throw at it. But it could also be the player your using. You should use a third party player other than Windows Media which isn't that great imho. Klite comes with Media Player Classic which can pretty much play everything. Or you should try something like the KMPlayer which i love as it is so customizable, or VLC which is popular has its own codecs.

    After installing a codec pack,you can try to change some files:
    (I'm not good at english```╮(╯_╰ ;)╭)

    1.找到C:\Program Files\Acer Arcade Deluxe\Kernel\CLML\这个目录(或者其它安装Acer Arcade Deluxe的目录)
    2.编辑CLML.ini这个文件
    找到[Format]这一标签
    然后找到Video = |MPG|MPEG|AVI|WMV|ASF|ASX|FLV|DVR-MS|M2TS|TSP|H264|264|MPV|M1S|这行
    在此行结尾处添加其他解码器包支持的格式,使其变成:
    Video = |MPG|MPEG|AVI|WMV|ASF|ASX|FLV|DVR-MS|M2TS|TSP|H264|264|MPV|M1S|RMVB|RM|264|3GP|AMV|BIK|CSF|FLV|IFO|M2T|M2TS|M2V|M4V|MKV|MOV|MP4|OGM|OGV|PMP|SCM|SWF|TP|TS|VOB|VP6|VP7|XVID|

    这样修改的目的就是为了让播放器可以识别RMVB和RM文件
    (CLML.ini此文件实际上是一个配置文件配置扫描的文件类型扫描速度等信息)

    Then,try to reboot Acer Arcade Deluxe and play more kinds of video.
