I have an acer tm 3002 and recently I stopped getting sound out of the speakers but I can get sound out of the headphones. I've checked all settings to make sure nothing was muted and I reinstalled the sound driver but its still a no go.

Any ideas of what it could be? I only use this laptop at home so it doesn't get banged up much if at all.

The only thing that comes to mind is that either the speaker connectors somehow got disconnected or, the most likely, the speakers broke (I think the speakers are physically soldered onto the motherboard anyway). I'm pretty sure the only safe way to fix it is send it in for repair, assuming you're still under warranty.

The speakers are connected via a 4pin data header, to the motherboard. This has either come loose, or you have blown the speakers.

How easy would you say it is to access this pin? What parts would I have to remove?

i would say you have to get access to the motherboard, not sure exactly what you would have to do since you have a different model than me. and if you're good with computer hardware, it shouldn't be too difficult, you'll probably need some patience, but if you have those you should be fine. and remember to RESEARCH. and if its still under warranty, call acer.
look up a service manual and do some research.
check out here for a list of manuals, the ones that start out with SG_ are service guides.

    hope this helps

Hi, I know that this is old but I have the same problem and after opening the case I found out that the cable was disconnected from motherboard, problem is I can´t reconnect them (4 pins), since the plastic enclosure is broken, I guess it´s the so called "male ". Any idea how to fix this? How did you manage yours? Thanks!

Edit: this is how it should looks like normally. Somehow those 4 cable are detached from the plastic housing .
