    Hello,

I recently purchased this system from Best Buy:

Acer Aspire Ultrabook 14" TouchScreen Laptop 6GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive M5-481PT-6644 - Best Buy

This systems appears to be the same configuration as the older M5 except this system uses the new i5 3337u processor and uses the integrated HD 4000 graphics only.

    I have two questions,
I am trying to confirm, can I in fact install more that 6gb of ram?
I really would like to have the 10gb available is needed, I do a lot of work in CS6, and system memory takes a hit.

Also is the NVidia Graphics card a add-on or integrated?

I am still within my return window, but I am manly interested if this system's ram can be increased.

    Thanks

it has 2gb soldered onboard you can add a 8gb stick to make it 10gb in total that will be useable

the Nvidia card is only in the G models so you have PT it would be PTG for nvidia graphics

for example my M3 Ultra is 581-PTG it has nvidia and touch

So you are stuck with intel HD graphics only

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you have a recommendation for a 8gb ram upgrade. Possible link?

I am pretty happy with the look and feel of this system, little disappointed in the non graphic card upgrade, but i am not a gamer.

I am haven't pushed it yet, but it more because the pain with working in win8, not the system (Yet).

    Thanks
    Sam

I just bought this model on sale for $629.99 and I was curious about the RAM as well so I asked if it could be expanded on the Best Buy question and answer page for the product and this is the answer I got from an official Acer rep: "The RAM cannot be expanded more than the 6GB installed because that is the maximum this system supports." I found this strange because on the archived Q and A section for the older model of the same exact computer the same question was asked and the Acer rep replied with this answer: "This model is able to be upgraded to 8GB of RAM via two slots." Confused, I visited the Acer support website and had a live chat with a rep and he would not say anything other than that the system would not support 8 GB, but he did not have a reason why. Does anyone know why, and if it is in fact true?

Its can have more than 8gb.

It doesn't have 2 slots because the 2nd slot is a 2gb stick directly in the motherboard.

They only say it takes 6gb max because they didn't test past that.

For example the Acer 8935g is rated for 8gb and fits 16gb. My 8930g is rated for 4gb and takes 6gb.

Thanks for clarifying. I just have one more question: why wouldn't they test past that? Is it a marketing issue where they don't want potential customers thinking they can upgrade in order to underhandedly force them to buy a more expensive model? And if not that, what is the reason?
