    Hey guys, here's my situation:

I bought a AS5672WLMi with X1400/1GB. The rig cost me $1499.99 CAD from Costco, which is not too bad .. especially considering the 6 month return policy :D

Now I have my eyes on the AS5674WLHi. If you haven't read my post about it, you can check her out here. It's essential identical to my current notebook (5670 series), but it has some very interesting new features: T2500/X1600/2GB/HD-DVD.

    Price: $1999.99 CAD

That's a $500 CAD ($447 USD) difference. Would you guys pay that extra cash for those features ?

    Cheers.

Yes I would. 2.0ghz core duo and a much faster video card. Now the question is does the card have 128mb or 256mb of dedicated Vram. If its only the 128mb version then for the price there are alot better machines out there. Otherwise go for it.

I dunno man, I don't know if it's still there but a better 5672 than yours was on sale @ Newegg for $1.1k. It's the one that's in my sig.

I wouldn't pay 800 dollars more for an upgrade to a 2.0ghz and a 1gig increase in RAM. But yeah, I have no idea if you have that option of purchasing from Newegg (if they still have it), because they don't ship outside of the country.

As for the increase for you, like liquid said, the x1600 is a much better card, and you'll definitely notice the increase in speed from the 2.0ghz Core Duo and the extra gig of RAM. However, I'd definitely look around to see if you can find an equivalent (or better) computer for the same price before deciding on the Acer.

Well if the card is the 256mb version paried with a t2500 and 2gb of ram then yeah its worth it; otherwise if the card is only 128mb look elsewhere.

I decided to stick with my 5672. Although the T2500 and HD-DVD is very tempting, I don't think I really need it.

As for the video card .. I'm not too much of a gamer. I go to the odd lan party here and there, but I pretty much stick to older FPSs and RPGs. I think the X1400 will be just fine for me. And I have to admit, I love the 6 month return policy with Costco. I already had to exchange it once due to a dead pixel, which wouldn't be covered by the manufacturer.

Thanks for your help guys !
