My dad has a netbook and it recently stopped booting up. I do not really think the model of it really matters. But if need be I can try and get it from him. The problem is that on the boot, it has a message that said that windows did not shut down properly or it did not install correctly. There are many choices to choose from and nothing works. Start windows normally, safe mode, and start last working configuration, they all do the same thing. The Windows XP boot screen comes up and then after a second it clicks off. (You can hear the click). The laptop is plugged in so I know it is not a battery problem. Need some help. Thanks for the responses. My dad really needs it for work.

If you need it done quick, back-up your dad's data (just in case) and use e-recovery to restore Windows (Alt+F10 when you see BIOS splash screen).

Recovery will take less time than looking for a solution and playing with a console.
