Multipule wee acer Aspire 3680 problems?

Hello all

One of my problems is ultra-slow internet speed so leafing through the pages was a task in itself, so please excuse these questions if they are damn easy to locate.

I bought an acer Aspire 3680(3683WXMi) for about £350 from shoplaptop.com(ex-display, returned open, and so forth) a week back and have had a few issues to contend with... Additionaly, I'm SO not computer savvy

I have a broadband connection in my house and on my old(dead harddrive) laptop it was super-fast, however, hooked up to the Aspire I'm running at what seems like dial-up speeds. Do I need to configure the connection in some way?

This laptop gets very hot, so much so I worry about leaving it on for extended periods. I checked the 'task' in 'perf' and its doing a whole lot of something, will this sort itself? I ask because a fellow acer user said that I should just leave it on for a day to "align" itself and all will calm, including the extensive heat.

On well-nigh every occasion I've switched on my laptop the 'acer empowering technology' struts its stuff by launching, but will not close down by its own accord; I have to end it via task manager. Does anybody know why this is? And do I even need 'empowering technology on my laptop?

And last, but by no means least, How do I get the inbuilt webcam to function? I assumed that it would be recognised somewhere in the control panal, but when I click on 'scanners and cameras' it says everything is fine, but doesn't recognised it. Do I need to download any drive or whatever?

I apologise about the length people, not really to sure what I'm talking about.
