I have an acer aspire 9300 with vista and recently its been not wanting to shutdown. It takes a long time to get to the shut down window and once it gets there, it will stay there then a Bios problem will pop up saying something about a driver update problem. If any one can help me out here I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

It says theres a driver problem. Update/fix all your drivers, then try shutting it down.

drivers are updated.

have you tried holding the power key down for five seconds.
but this will force a chkdisk at the next start-up let it run.
try sleep mode after that if all is ok and report back if it goes in to sleep mode. -
holding down the power button is the only way to shut it down.
It does go into sleep mode. -
sounds like you have a some files missing, haven't seen this since w98se.
you could try a fresh install.
if your getting sleep mode next try for hibernation in power settings when you close the lid.
let us know again what happens..
does sound like a missing file -
Try close program you have run in background then try shuting down see if make any diffrance i seen program run that can mess it up shutdown

It could be that you did´nt finish some installation process, try cecking windows update, or reinstalling your drivers. You could also shut down all non-esential processes in task manager and than see what happens like andyasselin suggested.

Sounds like a bios fault. Try updating the bios to the latest version and see if this helps. If not then there's a fault on the mainboard. Hope this helps
Lappy won't shut down. Help!
