    Hi guys,

I`ve just bought an Aspire 5672 and i`m loving the machine, very fast and run my games with no problems :)

Ok, but i`m worried about one thing: my LCD bottom is too bright. Using Photoshop the difference of brightness is noticeable between the top and the bottom. I reduce the brightness level pressing Fn <- and not fixed.

So, is this an LCD issue? Or the screen is like that?

    Please, i need help.

    Thank you very much

A common issue with laptops due to their single backlight which sits at the bottom of the screen. When this happens its often refered to as "light leakage". Not much you can do, as the display is designed that way.

That is some ugly light leakage. They may return it if you explain why you are disatisfied with it. I don't think it's one deffective screen, but simply the design of all the screens on this particular model.

    Where did you buy it?

Check their return policy so you are familiar with their standard procedures so you can have an idea what they will try to tell you first. Remember, most places still will try to do whats best for the customer, so just stand firm with what you want. Be calm but assertive, explain that you want to return the item, and make it clear you aren't walking away until something is done for you.

I`m not in US, so i bought in a local store of my city.
I`ll check with them tomorrow, i can`t live with this ligh leakage.

So, digitaltrav, do you think this is really a light leakage, right? Just to be sure to explain and firm with what i want.

Check this two new shots (sorry for the bad quality pictures, i`m without my cam right now):

Mine Acer 5024 had 100% the same problem. I took it to the warranty service and they accepted that this really is a problem. Anyway I am afraid that all of the 5024 screens look the same. :(

I got the 5672 w/ X1600 and there is no leakage whatsoever. I'm sorry you got one with leakage though. Other from the heat, this laptop is an excellent deal.

Acer CrystalBrite screens have two backlights, right? In in the bottom and one in top. Maybe the top backlight isn't working and bottom one gets all the voltage and burns overbright?

Or maybe I have too rich fantasy...
