I came across this while searching for a quad-core AMD Acer laptop. There's plenty of links in Google about it, mostly blog spam all saying the same thing, and all posted near the end of January this year.

Trouble is I can't find anything about it on any reputable source or where the original announcement came from. It also seems strange that it wouldn't have been announced at CES.

They give the version number 5552G, which was released last year but only has a dual-core N950 and a Radeon 5650M (vs quad-core N970 with Radeon 6650M).

Does anyone know anything about this, or is just some kind of fake blog-spam campaign?

Who cares? The 6650M and quad core is quite a bit more powerful.

Um, I care because if Acer really have announced this I'm going to hold off on getting a new laptop until it's available?
