    Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am planning to purchase an Acer TM4404 form ZipZoomFly. My concern is that I live in Chile, South America so I just want to make sure that if I buy an Acer Notebook in the US and then bring it to Chile, where I permanently live, it will be covered by the warranty here in Chile's Acer representative without having to take it back to the States. I can't find that out by my self since I am not able to call Acer in the US, that's why I want to know if anyone has had any experience with this.
I am aware that Acer offers an International Travelers Warranty which is of no use for me since I permanently live outside the country where the product will be purchased.
If the standard notebook's warranty is no good for Chile, I want to know if I can buy some extension plan or whatever so I can be able to make use of the warranty abroad if needed.

A friend of mine living in Florida is going to order the computer from ZZF and when he travels to Chile he will bring me the laptop.

    Thanks,

    Nicolas Schubert

Well you'll have to check if they've got a service center in Chile. I'd recommend emailing your friend to call them and ask. As for the Traveler's Warranty, it's basically like a global warranty. If it broke in a country that had a service center or affiliate, then they'll just fix it there and Acer will pick up the tab.

Acer's warranties are supposed to international as long there is a service center located there. In lieu of calling them, you could send them an email to inquire about the warranty or contact Acer's local representative.

Just checked, there are service centers in Chile and you can also purchase there too. Is it more affordable from the US?

    Thanks for the quick replies!

In fact there is an Acer representative here in Chile but the TM4404 is not marketed here, and if it was the price would be twice as much as in the US.
I asked the guys here in Chile if the warranty of the notebook purchased in the US would cover me and they said no, but I will insist asking Acer in the US via email since calling them would be to expensive. Still I belive Acer's representative wasn't very happy with my idea of purchasing in the US because he makes no business out of it so he told me that. Who knows.

I understand traveler's warranty is no good for me since it's for people that travel for no more than 3 months outside the country were the notebook was purchased. Since I live permanently here it won't cover me.
Anyway, I'll hope to receive an answer from them soon and if not I guess I'll take the risk and buy the laptop anyway.

    Thanks

Just to let others know what I have found out. Seems to me that Acer "officially" does not provide an International Warranty besides the ITW and it looks every Acer representative can accept or deny the warranty coverage of a notebook purchased abroad. I'll have to find another notebook manufacturer that does provide a full international warranty.

I hope this helps others in a similar situation as mine.
