I just placed my order for an Acer Travelmate 8104. You guys know the specs, 100 gig HD, 2.0 centrino, 128 x700 etc... I did decide to upgrade the Ram to 2 gigs. And I got the 3 year warranty(screen included).

I placed the order today and will have it in hand on Tuesday through CDW. Best part is they will swap it for another for any defects in the first 30 days (dead pixels anyone :D -- and i will check the flicker thing I've read).... I couldn't find another notebook to compete when size was a factor and cost was not. The HP 8230 almost did but it seemed kinda outdated with a serial port and no DVI. The X700 is a huge plus too.

We'll now that I've shared my joy I will wait.

Let us know which battery comes shipped with yours.

It seems the flickering issue is related to the battery. Supposedly the (Motorola) battery shipped is whats causing the problem. If it is, let Acer know, they should send you a new battery
(diff mfg, Sanyo battery I believe is what they should replace it with).
