    and I love it!
I am one of the lucky one without flickering problem...
    but I still don
t know how to use everything.
I need help with 2 problems:
    1) I believe that the center button on my touchpad is supposed to act as a scroll bar... but that does not seem to work for me.
I don't know that much about notebook though, so don't hesitate to suggest simple solutions if you have encountered that problem before!
2)I am trying to download pictures from my MemoryStick Pro, without any kind of success. I have no idea where to find the device. I was hoping that it would show up in the "my computer" drive, but nothing pops up when I insert the stick! I don't get much help from the Acer website either... Any suggestion?
I thank you all in advance for your help.

    Alex'a.

    Thank you for your answer.
I have been trying to dig through the ACER America website to find any information on that 5-in-1 reader, but unsuccessfully.
I finally sent an email to their technical support , and here is the answer I got:

    >>Dear Me,

Thank you for contacting Acer America. The Acer card reader supports
Memory Stick but not Memory Stick Pro. There is no update available to
allow the card reader to recognize a Memory Stick Pro card. I'm sorry I am
unable to assist with this issue.

    Respectfully,

    Is that true?
I am fairly sure that I read somewhere that the 5-in-1 supported the MS PRO! That's why I bought my 8104!!
I am fairly annoyed, right now.
I would appreciate any suggestion again...

They lie. Well sort of. I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same laptop.

First off I take it that it was picked up and installed the first time you put it in the machine?

All you have to is go to the device manager, right click on 'Disk drives' and hit 'scan for hardware changes'. A drive letter should pop right up. The catch is that it seems you have to this every time.

Thank you Sputnik, you are right: I tried what you said, and it worked.
However, before I read your reply, I had called Acer technical support.
After getting a few more "no, it will never work", I got somebody who said that it worked with his 8104 and a Sony Memory Stick Pro.... I've got Sandisks.... So he gave me directions on the phone on what to do, never got anywhere (apparently, they don't know your tricks on how to use their machines yet at Acer!!), so we decided I should send my machine back so that they can fix it. As long as it is free, I will do it! I don't want to have to scan my hardware everytime I download pictures... Mainly, they said that it should work, so they should make it so.
I am still waiting for them to tell me that it is because my MS Pros are Sandisk, not Sony, though. We'll see how full of BS they are...

    Alexa,

On our TM81004, next to the 5-in-1 drive, it says clearly "PRO"
directly behind the Memory Stick logo.
So ACER should explain why it doesn't work with MS PRO when it says PRO!
And as I pointed out in my previous reply they fixed bugs in the MS PRO implementation.

SANDISK should be 100% compatible (that is what they claim). Since on our systems it works with SONY it should work with SANDISK to!

    Update:

    I actually have 2 MemorySticks:
1 not Pro from Sony, 1 Pro from Sandisk.
The Sony one works as it should... Except that when I try to do things right and disconnect it from the "unplug device" on the bottom right of the toolbar, then my 8104 does not see me unplugging the stick, wait for me to do it, and I have to restart the computer before using the memory card reader again! Anyway...
The Memory Stick Pro from Sandisk is "seen" when I plug it (little bell), same bell when I unplug it, but no icon pops up in "my computer"...
As Sputnik explained, in order to access files on that Stick, I first have to do a hardware scan in "device manager".
By the way, I just got my notebook back from Acer technical support saying that everything is fine, and I might want to reload everything....
Well, at least there is a way to make it work!
Now, I am still a little disappointed by the sound from this notebook...

    Hi Alexa,

I am thinking about buying a 8104 but wondering if I will miss the harmann/kardon system on my old Toshiba...how bad is the sound?
