I can't shut off my laptop if I put the screen down.

This is what happens, I would shut my laptop off and close the screen, but the laptop would still be in the process of shutting down. It seems like I have to leave my screen up so the laptop can fully shut down.

Is there way I can configure my laptop so that I can just shut off it off with the screen down?

    FYI I have a Acer Extensa 5620-6830.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Go to power settings and configure what you want to do, there are several options depending on laptop model

Double-click on Acer ePower management (bottom-right of your screen) --> Advanced settings --> Power Button and Password --> "When I close the lid"

If you are not there yet try this on your 56XX. From the Control Panel select Power Options. Next window will have a lot of can do on the left side in a column. Click, "Choose what closing the lid does" and the options come up for battery and Plug In.
