    Hi Guys I'm new here.

I just recenty purchased an Acer Aspire 9301AWSMi running on vista home premium with in built Orbicam.

Within the programs menu I can open up orbicam, but the only thing it lets me do is take photos. There is no utility for video capture, which I find strange after having looked around I have seen mption tracking.

Is there seperate software for it?

I had a logitech quickcam fusion, of which I downloaded the vista software for however vista has a problem with the driver for that and I get blue screened.

I would like to be able to record with my orbicam though, I though there would hve been an option to record as well as take photographs.

    I'd appreciate help.

    Thanks

    Jippers

I had this problem also and at the bottom of the screen you can change the resolution. The Video doesn't work at all resolutions. I had the same thing happen until I started playing with it and changed the resolution the video button was enabled.

I only have two resolution choices in the oricam console, with the bin and camera buttons next to it.

Changing the cam res doesn't help.

My monitor is 17", is the resolution I use to display in that going to effect the orbicam?

the button should be there never the less shold it to do video.

There really isn't alot of help for it on the net

which tells me that the software is used to 4:3 recording and not a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio.

I have the exact same problem with my acer, well I DID NOT have the problem but then I sent it to acer, and now the app for the cam is gone!!!

I don't think you can download the app for it so the only way I can think of getting it back is a system restore...

I have just purchased an Acer Aspire 9303. The Orbicam stopped working after 3 days. After contacting Acer Support they told me to do a Factory Restore of the operating system which I did. The Orbicam then worked, but only for a few days again. When going to Device Manager is states that the Orbicam is working properly! There is no Help for it either. It is very frustrating. Any ideas?

Its a microsoft update patch that knocks the camera out, go to the FTP site on http://support.acer-euro.com and redownload the driver for your machine the BISON one is the one you will need.

There is a problem here but here's how I got round it. Go to Explore Disk C/Double Click Windows/Double click Bison. I then had two files: Bison Mnt and LiveCam. Right click on LiveCam and Send to Desktop. You then have a shortcut that opens the webcam (delete the old on). It opens the webcam with full Capture Settings. It still comes up with the error Webcam has stopped working . . . but ignore this! The same thing applies if you click the other file BisonMnt - they both look the same to me! Good luck.

    THANKS man,this works for me.
Just had to check Realtek HD Audio Input under Devices tab and then set Enable
Mic Volume on Audio capture filter under Options tab in order to
    capture sound also.

The problem is with vista that it runs a new version fo windows movie maker otheriwse I would use it to capture video.
I contacted support at acer and they sent me a link to download the suyin driver..which really hasn't changed anything.

It's like Acer slapped vista on their models without really testing it!
