I just bought an Acer laptop, the first time I've ever used one. Looks like the model number is aspire 5733Z-4851.

My question is this: I don't see the drop-down menu in the upper left that I've always used to print files, close them, etc. Can someone tell me where I can find this menu? Thanks.

Every computer I've had has had a drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the screen that allows you to print the file you're looking at, close it, etc. I thought it was a standard feature of Windows, but I don't see it on this Acer computer.

Is this your first time on Win7 by any chance?

The user interfaces of all Microsoft applications have been redesigned. They should still have something resembling the old "File" menu in the upper left though. Other options previously found in dropdown menus are now accessed through whatever "tab" on the upper toolbar they decided to put it under.

Whatever you are referring to is not Acer related but as restencil pointed out system related or application related.
It's hard to guess exactly what you are missing since- well you know- it's not there anymore ;)

It would be helpful if you provided a screenshot illustrating the situation.

Thanks very much. It was a Win 7 issue. I went to the Win 7 forums and found that I need to hit alt plus F to get the file menu.
