Hinge Problem... How much $$$

How much should i expect to pay for a cracked hinge on a acer 2003 series? And wheres the best place to go to get it fixed? Thanks

 

Could you post a pic of the hinge?

I'd try eBay and see what the parts for your model are going for. Also, give Acer a call and have them give you an estimate (if you're no longer under warranty).

Ah, thanks for the pictures.

Can you still shut it properly - as in, with no problems? And, is it just the plastic that is broke or is it the hinge mechanism itself?

i opened it up yesterday. The hinge cover is just not snapped because the metal hinge inside has broken. i called acer.. Cant find part. Where could i find this part? i need the metal hinge itself. N e input would be great, Thanx

Oh yeah and im operating on 1 hinge right now so i am using the laptop by laring the screen completely flat... Cannot open and close.. Only has 1 hinge i took the broken one out

 

Hm that's going to be really tough...check eBay..you may be looking into replacing the whole panel not sure.

That's all I can come up with.

 

I found the part i need and part number, here are some pics.. Anyone one know where to buy this? I found it on notebook solutiins but i dont know whut that big thing is, i only need the bracket.. Thanks

Have you tried calling Acer and seeing if they can send you that part? I can't imagine that it would cost that much.

I would also try googling that part number, and see if you come up with anything.

 

acer dont stock it and their part supplier wants 50 bucks.... n e one got an old hinge laying around?

 

If you can't find anyplace else to get it....better $50 than a new notebook.
