    There are now higher resolution panels out there with LED backlighting.

    Do you think it's possible to attach one of these to an acer laptop?

    Has anyone tried? Now that we don't have to worry about silly inverters.

    Ok comparing these two.

    B156XW02

    Officially supported panel and

    B156HW01

    1080p panel.

    All of their electrical and physical requirements are the same, apart from power consumption.

    1366x768 = 5.6 watts max
    1920x1080 = 8 watts max

    LOL FINE. I'll try it then.

    Managed to find a lower power consuming panel, the brother to another approved one on the list (around 6.4W) so I guess we will see.

    If I pull this off I want a most modified laptop award :p

    For 14" and below don't bother the screen is too small to need high resolution.

    It'd be interesting but thats alot of work most people wouldn't dare of trying.

    Too many unknown variables such as costs(1080p panels aren't easy to get), warranty issues(voiding it), fitment issues(chassis was designed to fit the panel, lid's rigidity made to reinforce the panel). However, if you still got the balls to do it, then all the power to you :)

    Yeah, half the pixels (each vertical line) are just on (white), so need the dual channel cable.

    Panel fits perfectly however.

    It's a 15.6" panel and I have very good eyesight so it fits really nicely.

    I can tell it's going to be good even though I'm missing half the pixels lol.

    Ok guys, still working on this.

    Soldering the extra cables is my only option and it's very tricky.

    I think I have the teqnique I need to use.

    If I perfect the technique and it all works, would anyone be interested in paying me to mod their cables?

    No thanks - I'm happy with my 768p panel, and this machine's going to be repurposed for media center duty once I have my own place and HDTV.
    Good work though, Meaks!

    I would limit this to the following machines anyway:

    5935
    5940
    5942
    5943

    Since they share the same connector.

    The cable used in the 6920 has a couple of qualities:

    1. Its easy to mod.
    2. There are HD versions available (my mod will cost more than a cable)
    3. There are possible inverter issues for non LED backlit displays.
