I got the Acer TM3002 and generally I'm very happy with it.

But when I have it on AC and maximum performance there is a high pitch noise coming from the laptop when it is idle. The noise dissappears when something demanding cpu happens. (Using the scroll wheel in a browser for example). Also turning on bluetooth lessens the sound a lot.

I've got around the problem by using Centrino Hardware Control with dynamic switching, but now the sound comes instead when using the scroll wheel, weird...

I've found that some other centrino computers have the sam problem with high pitch noise. (Compac nx8000 for example... they also say it dissappears when turning on bluetooth).

Has anyone had the same problem? Is there a fix?

That is very odd, we have been recieving a lot of feedback referring to noise being emitted from laptops such as yours...

I believe that the problem is related to the flow of electricity within the laptop. It makes sense, considering that it goes away when certain actions are performed - spooling up the CPU, etc.

I'd give Acer Support a call, just to see what they say. I had an Acer before, and I had good experience with their tech support.

I have had noice interference problems with my TM3200, it seemed to happen when the AC was attached. I'd unplug the AC and the noise would go away. I came back from a trip and now the noise has gone. I also get noise from the headphones output to external speakers. I'd say it's an electrical interference thing but who knows.
