    Help identify hardware 5680

    Hello, i just got a new 5680, and i installed vista on it.
    and there is a port i need help identifying / using.

    it shines bright red in XP.

    But what is it, how do i use it, and do i need extra drivers in vista.

    If it shines bright red in XP then it is most likely the infra-red port(did your notebook come with a remote control). Acer has a XP driver for the device as well as a vista driver available.

    Infra-red is rare in notebooks these days(bluetooth is now common place)... but most of the time infra-red comes with entertainment notebooks that have built in TV tuners and therefore use a remote control. This may have been optional for your 5680 but the port appears to be still there.

    Ive now with help from you and others figured out its a CIR port ( the laptop has a tv tuner indeed)

    But now i cant find the driver for it :(

    ( yes i looked on the acer site )
    If anyone has encountered this issue or know what to do... please help :)
