Hi guys, i'm new here and i come write this post for bad reasons :(

Last Thursday my Acer 5920G-602G25Mn with a 8600M GT get the black screen (as i read on this forum this is normal and means high temperatures on GPU), so after i read posts from the forum i decide to get some thermal paste and put on the GPU and CPU i get the Artic Silver Matrix because the AS5 was out of stock.

I already had open the laptop 1 year ago when i split coffe on it but today when i was putting the termal past my Acer is different from the images on this forum and from the Acer Service Guide because my fan and the cooler are split out and i dont have any copper plate where the GPU should settle down isn't there  See photos below

After i try 3 times put the thermal paste my temps are the same on idl GPU around 65º and Cores around 55º-65º!!!

This can be because the fan is split or because there are no copper plate?!

If the gap is too big between the heatsink and CPU you can buy and do a copper mod.. But those are high ilde tempratures, what is your load tempratures? Also, the black screen does not mean the tempratures are high, it can also be a indicate that your GPU is dying or so on..

When i play games like CS or League of Legends the GPU temps go to 90º-100ºC but sometimes on the summer i already get 120ºC!!! The cores is around 70º-80ºC. Sometimes 90ºC but i rare!!!

Last night i put the thermal again i press the GPU and CPU to the cooler and i think that aren´t no space and i made undervolting the max VID is now 1.0750V with RMClock and before was 1.5000V, now in ilde i have 60º-65ºC for GPU and 45º-50ºC for the Cores.

This temps is more like the ones i had when i bought the PC and had Vista install now im using W7 x64 i don't know if this can change the temps

    But this temps are hight?!

    Thanks

100-120°C is very high - you probably need a copper mod. The MXM temperature ceiling of the 5920G is 95.0°C, according to the MXM structure.

When you took both plates off for the first time did the GPU and CPU heatsink both have thermal paste, or did any have thermal pads?

Good point EnglishFull. If you have replaced thermal PADS with thermal PASTE it gives usually a bad result, no matter how you apply it. I did try that on my Qosmio and basicly the thermal PASTE does not do the job for PADS.

No the thermal pads keep there and on GPU and CPU i remove the last thermal past because was dry!!!

After 2 days with low temps, last night i turn off my Acer and today Black Screen and a Bip when i turn him on, i try again and again black screen and a bip and turn off!!! So i check thermal past because i maybe be had put too much but that ins't the problem because is only on GPU and CPU surface.

So i turn on my Acer again and no Bip this time but i get the black screen and i can't view on other monitor... :(

So seams my 8600M GT is dead!!!

Try reflowing it in an oven. Google for "GPU oven trick". Worked for me with a dead 8400M GS.
