Greetings everyone. I'm using an Aspire 4920. basically i was messing with some Vista tweaks that i found online. I did two of the following things: I went on msconfig >> boot >> and set the maximum processors to 2 since i'm using a Core 2 Duo. Then i went to computer properties >> virtual memory >> and set the paging memory to what it recommended. It required a restart, so i restarted and now it won't go into windows or windows safe mode. When I go into the acer system restore, i've tried every option. Repair, Restore to system defaults. Repair doesn't find anything wrong with my system or can't repair whatever's wrong, and restore gives and error message. i also tried using the cmd tool to try to bring up msconfig and the computer properties to see if i can reset the things i did. But it can't find msconfig and computer properties. The only thing that seems to work in cmd is regedit, but when i try to change the pagememory to 0, it seems to reset the values after a reboot.
This is really really bad. Please i desperately need some help!

If you have a Vista install disc. Run the disc and do a startup repair.

You only have one processor, it just has 2 cores.

@flipfire Welcome to ACER forum, nice to see you here :) Congrats for the promotion btw :)

ACER do not supply any kind of CDs..

@midgetdiablo If you still have D2D partition you could recover Vista in its original ACER-made settings.

Make sure D2D is enabled in BIOS first. Then on start up the computer you have to press F10(or was it ALF+F10?) and start system recovery. Windows has nothing to do with it :)

Yeah, thank god for external hard drives. After the problems I've had I said "no more" and bought a 500GB external drive for backups.

    Good Luck
