Try reinstalling the drivers. If that doesn't work, contact Acer if it bothers you much.

I get it with the latest Realtek drivers on an 8935, try rolling them back.

This is caused by the hdmi audio drivers from Nvidia. I'm not sure why but I'm sure these cause it, remove the Nvidia hdmi audio drivers and then reinstal them. Then reinstal realtek drivers.

This happened to me and my brother a couple of times... it drove us mad.

My tip = Install Win7 Ultimate x64 and download the notebook driver from the official Nvidia site, it hasn't been running smoother since.

Not sure if you are still having that problem, or if anybody else is, but I managed to fix my crackling/poor sound today,

    BASICALLY:

I went to my volume icon, selected playback devices, selected m speakers and clicked properties, then I went to the enhancements tab and ticked "swap centre/subwoofer speaker".

NOW my sound works perfectly...yay :D
