    Help! Windows vista Activation message (Acer 5315-2122)

    Hi All,


    My mom has had her laptop for a couple of years now and I am not sure what happen but when she powers it on she is getting the message.


    “The windows vista Home Basic product key you typed in is invalid for Activation.


    1) type in a different product key
    2) contact Acer
    3) Access your computer with reduced functionality (allows you to buy a production key online)



    I am not sure why the message is appearing now (keep in mind she has had this laptop for a couple of years now) I don’t know if she did something to cause this or what. I could understand If it was a new laptop maybe but she has had it for couple years now.


    Has anyone has the issue or what might have caused this to appear? Also where do I find this product key?

    I've no idea what may have caused it but the product key can usually be found on a label on the bottom of the laptop if that helps at all.

    Thanks this helped! I entered the product key from the label and everything looks ok now.
