    Going nuts here!

New laptop (Acer w/OS win 7) to replace my Compaq (OS win vista) that took a dump

Wifes Comaq (vista) and sons Compaq(vista) can print to network printer Canon MP530 attached to Desktop in basement (Sony Vaio - OS win xp)

Acer will not access printer - connects to the home network and internet fine - all computers on same Workgroup but when I go to add network printer the Acer does not even show any available printers.

Tried \\vaio\canon mp530 etc. nothing seems to work

Acer customer service said to call them for assistance - at $3 per min.!!!!!!

Have you tried adding the printer by it's IP address?
