The 4501 has pretty much the exact same specs as the 2012WLMi. It just lacks slightly in the HDD size (40GB), but makes up for it with a faster Dothan CPU & XP Pro. You can get it from Newegg.com.

A couple users have already purchased this notebook, one from Newegg and the other from PCNation.com, but they said PCNation was a bit sketchy. The approx price was $1350-$1400US.

I know you're gonna enjoy the unit, this was one of the units I was seriously considering. The 4501WLMi and also the 3201XCi, which has a 14.1" LCD and weighs under 5lbs & costs approx $1450 from Newegg.

yeah, i've never quite understood why all computers right across the board are nearly always significantly less expensive if purchased south of the 49th parallel, even before taxes!

Personally, I feel the 4501 is a snazzy looking machine, and as a 2012 owner, I'm a bit jealous over the dothan (though not sure the difference would be overwhelmingly noticeable for my purposes), but also for the modular bay which i think the 4501 has. The possibility of putting a second battery in there is fantastic...

    happy searching :)

Do the TM 4501 and Aspire 2012 have the same keyboard? (slightly curved)

    u got urself right.
the TM4501's keyboard is slightly curved while the 2012 has the normal straight keyboard.
personally, i like the feel of keys on 4501 or 1681.
