    Hi all,

I have an Aspire 5745G that came with GT330M with Hybrid Power Support.

Now, NVIDIA declared that they ended the driver support for Hybrid with the 260 driver series. Now I want to disable my Intel chipset VGA and use only the NVIDIA driver.

How can I do that? I already tried disabling from BIOS (I chose graphics mode as "discrete") but it only worked in VGA mode.

    I need help please !!!

    Hi,

Oh well, "Hybrid (SLI)" is rather old stuff - your laptop seems to have the new Optimus technology. Optimus Technology

At the moment, Nvidia offers drivers that are not newer than those available from Acer website, unless these are working also: NVIDIA DRIVERS 258.96 WHQL

    Hi,

Unfortunately what I have is Hybrid Power Technology, the one you change the modes between high performance mode and high battery life.

And I am bored about the stuff that does not let me update my NVIDIA GT330M's driver. That is why I am trying to disable the hybrid mode. And use NVIDIA stand alone. But I can not :(

Will you be able to help me about that?

No idea how Acer's marketeers called this, it is not Nvidia's Hybrid Power Technology, since this worked only with Nvidia chipsets.
There are different ways to implement Optimus. ;)
Have you tried the 258 I linked to above?
Remember, you paid some extra price for that technology. Why do you want to throw it away? What does not work with your drivers?
Apart from that, I wouldn't expect any improvements with later drivers, since NV now concentrates on their new 4xx VGA adapters.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if this is possible.

    Hi Michael,

Well, I actually am not sure after your comments.

What I'll tell might sound crazy but here is the story. I bought FIFA11 2 weeks ago. Most people suffer from crashing of the game and lagging. And someone told in a forum that the latest NVIDIA driver solves both.

Here is what I tried yesterday:
    - I moved the graphics selection in BIOS from "Switchable" to "Discrete".
    - I tried the NVIDIA Driver but it did not recognize my card.
    - I opened the NVIDIA Driver page and selected the scan my computer option (By the way, in device manager I did not see my Intel HD Graphics). It recognized my NVIDIA GT330M and it wa written that for my card, the driver packages will be published by my manufacturer.

So, I have given up searching for the ways to install the latest NVIDIA Driver. And found that the crashing (I think, I'm about to be sure) is because of errors in EA Sports Servers. Because when the connection is lost to the server, the game crashes. I do not sign in to the EA Sports, unless I will play online.

    I wish that works :)

By the way, thanks for your involvement and responses Michael.

it is possible to have nvidia 260.61 with intel 2202 in this laptop.
the only bug is you wont be able to use cude if you switch from intel to nvidia.

    Hi,
Indeed, sounds as if there were something broken with their DRM or something like that.
Have you already checked if there are patches for that game available?
