So one morning my Acer 5672wmli suddenly turns off, no reason. I go to inspect it and notice it's really really hot...so I let it cool and turn it on again. The cooling fan starts up and makes what sounds like a 200db squeal. Obviously, I figure, exhaust fan is bad, thats why it overheated.

So I go get my warranty papers (3 yr extended warranty, Canada), go to the acer support website and arrange a pick up, which Purolater does the next afternoon. I got an email the next day saying it had been received at the acer depot (I assume Toronto).

I'm using my backup laptop (dell d600) for all of five days when I get an email saying the unit was shipped back. Next day, some guy in a car drops it off at my house (weird? or just a small time courier?). Its working perfectly again.

So, one day to arrange service, two days transit total, and five days to repair - 8 days total downtime. To me, thats great turnaround. The extended warranty was well worth the money. Not sure if service is similar outside of Canada, but it was great for me.

It is nice to hear from someone who is happy with acer support and repair :), some users on here complain that acer support is awful but it is nice to hear that everything worked out for you. I have never had to use them (knock on wood  ) and this is my second acer in a row.

The monitor recently gave out on my Acer Aspire 5672wlmi, I called Acer, wasn't put on hold once, was dealt with very quickly and easily, mailed my laptop, got it back in a little over a week and only had to pay shipping one way. It came back with a new screen and it's like new again!

    Acer support rocks.

This sounds quite efficient as compared to the Best Buy 3 year warranty that my cousin is dealing with for her HP laptop. It seems like her screen is jammed on one side so the laptop won't open. Best Buy gave her a loaner laptop (which she had to buy!!) while they said her laptop will take almost 30 days to repair. It's currently day 12 and counting.

Best Buy has a really stupid tech department and warranty support team. You'll be happier if you get the notebook warranty via HP next time :p

Oh I agree! My cousin is extremely annoyed as the laptop is for her business use and the loaner has Vista on it which she finds really annoying. I removed the hdd from the defective machine and attached it via external USB to her loaner. Unfortunately with Vista she can only read her data under her user profile so that makes coping her outlook PST files etc. a bit of a pain.
