I was a Windows 7 beta participant (loaded on my Acer Extensa 4420) until very recently. While I liked Windows 7 very much, it was crashtastic with this machine, so I decided recently to go back to Vista.
Of course the recovery partition was now gone and I did not have nor make recovery disks, so I had to go through the painful process of talking with someone in India about purchasing recovery disks from Acer. It cost $20 and nearly 45 minutes of my time.
I received the disks (two "System Disks" and two "Recovery Disks") from Acer, and have followed their directions. I have tried loading the disks in different sequences and in different ways, but I get a "no partition" error.
If anyone has any ideas as regards how to proceed at this point, I would be thankful. The machine is very nice, and I would hate to Craigslist it so soon.
(A non-starter option would be to purchase another non-OEM version of Vista.)

Alt+F10 is a non-starter. you need to find a way to get Fdisk to run.to format the hard drive.
