I bought my laptop (Acer) 5 months ago. I have 2 year warrany. One day I brought my laptop to the warranty service to fix an minor issue. They did nothing and gave me back my laptop with faulty video card. So I took it back once more. They "fixed" it and I got it back. But... I have just discovered another fatal error... I cant turn it on properly (it freezes during boot process). So? Have I lost my 1600 $? Or they can give me back my money or change entire laptop? They are frauds. They keep on putting in defected components in my laptop and when the warranty will be over I will be left outside alone with 1600$ laptop full of dead components.

At least in the US, we have a Lemon Law that states if the computer has to go back for repair for the 4th time, we can get a new laptop or a full refund. No matter how long it has been, if the warranty is still okay we have that option.

There might be something like that everywhere, but check with your officials to see.

Sounds like a software problem, not a hardware one. Hardware companies are generally useless with software problems.

You probably need to do a fresh reload, which is painful.

You can use a product like Acronis and make an image of your current hard drive and then try a fresh reload to see if it solves the problem. If not you can restore the other image.

Acronis has a 15 day free trial.

It just dont feel like a software problem. They say they have changed motherboard twice! And each time I had different problems. Now the computer works fine around 5 - 10 minutes depending on how hot it is. It turns off without warning and I can boot it up again for another 5 minutes of work only after 2 - 3 minutes long waiting. I will try system recovery but I am sure it wont work anyway...

Just keep sending it back until they are tired of messing around and they actually fix it.

It's too bad. Acer support is really good here in the US, but I am sure it varies baded on location.

Yeah... I reinstalled it to factory settings and still the same problem. It is 100% hardware problem and i think it is damaged video card. (AGAIN!!!). First time I recieved it form warrany the video card caused fatal artifacts and blue screen 15 - 30 seconds after power-up. Video card was stable only at 100 Mhz memory freq (default is 300!!) and anything higher than that caused artifacts, nonresponse and restart. So I sent it back. Now it behieves a bit different but still not usable. When I power it up on battery (video card is downclocked) it runs 5 - 20 minutes and suddenly the screen turns to black and computer freezes. However power indicator glows and fan is running. If I power it up using AC and "Home/Office" setting it crashes much faster and ends up with the same black screen and glowing indicators.

Do I have to send it to that warranty thing again? I am sure they will pick another crappy motherbord in it and after two weeks I still wont be able to use my computer. I am not sure if there is something similar to "Lemon Law" in European Union (maybe someone knows?) but I definately want to receive a full refund.
