    Hi Guys,
Im after some opinion regarding the Acer Ferrari 5005, I put my 8210 in for repair and without getting into details it all went pearshaped and i have been offered the Ferrari 5005 as a replacement with Vista.

Is the 5005 comparable to the 8210? with regards games and the like.

Also i need a spec sheet for it. I have looked around the web and found various spec sheets for it, but i am currently in New Zealand and they don't actually sell it here and they are having to import it from Australia. The australiain website doesn't have it on their site either. I am assuming the spec is different as the 8210 they sell in NZ is different (less specced) than the 8210 that i used to have (I bought in the UK)

I am hoping also that it doesnt suffer from the same overheating issues as my 8204 did?

    Cheers

The 5005 and 8210 share the same chassis. They also have the same X1600 graphics card. But the 5005 has a flashier design, and an AMD Turion X2 processor, compared to the Intel C2D on the 8210.

    I have the Ferrari!

    here are the specs...
    15.4 inch glossy widescreen 1680?? X 1050 TFT
    AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60(2.0ghz) //awesome!
    160GB HDD 5400rpm
    X1600 256mb dedicated/ with hypermemory to 512mb
    2.0GB DD2 667mhz ram.
    Wireless a/b/g - Bluetooth2.0 - Firewire - express card - pc card - HDMI output(//cool, very cool) S-Video - VGA - 4 USB - Slot loaded DL DVD-RW - docking station thing...

The computer is VERY Fast and the only game I have tried was Age of Empires 3, which I maxed out the settings with out ANY lag at all.

I got a lemon as you can see below, but it looks like you got one too ;)

by benchmarks it will be a small margin less than the 8210 if acer is offering it for free, HOW did you get so lucky they don't even want to pay for air shipping for me!!!

I am NOT impressed with my computer as it has been ureliable

but I AM impressed with it's preformance and if I were to get another computer I would get one with the same spec's just not an acer...

if you need any more spec's/have any guestions let me know I'm sure there is some I forgot to post.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,
I took my laptop in for repair for 2 reawsons:-

    1. the hinges became loose, so that the screen wouldnt stand up by itself and would flop backwards and forwards.
    2. THe annoying buzz from the graphics card.

I took it in for repair, they correctly diagnosed it but as it was a UK machine being fixed under international warranty they had to bring the parts in from abroad. They had my machine for five weeks, and every time i got in contact i was told, they are waiting for the parts, they have recived them but they are the wrong parts, then they are waiting again, then they recieved them and fitted them but now there is another problem with the PSU.

Then i got fed up and went in to see the manager and he told me that they have actually lost the machine and cant find it!!!!!

I was a bit p!*sed off but they went out of their way to help and they have offered me the ferrari as a direct replacement. So i can't complain cos i am getting a laptop that is comparable with my old one, and a new warranty.

Another question, does it have the HD DVD?

mine does not, but it does support it(HD DVD).

I too talked to a manager(acer Canada) and she told me that all they would do is fix it... yah, p!*ssed is an understatement...

Note* the Ferrari has that same GPU as the 8210. and the reason I have sent my computer in 3 times is because of buzzing and other case related stuff(eveytime they return it some part of the case is broken...)

If you have a good set of headphones you can over power the noise with music (not a screen reader, trust me on that one)

If I were you I would take It and run, your getting a very very very fast computer, with awesome looks...

Funny.....I sent in my 8205WLMi like 3 weeks ago for the 4th time and they offered me the 8210-6880 and the Ferrari 5005 WLMi. I chose the 8210-6880. Ferrari's AMD ML-60 has nothing on the Core 2 Duo, but if thats your only choice, then I guess thats what you'll be stuck with.

my Turion TL-60 will hammer a T2300, brutally. I know its not the T7200 but it's not far off.

Edit: to clarify what I mean my Turion kills the T2300 by a lot, so it will be somewhere in the range of the T7200, not better but reletively close

how the heck do you guys get exchanges???!!!! They won't give me nothing!!!!

My old 8205WLMi had the T2600. My new 8210-6880 has the T7200. You just have to push them.
