    Im REALLY considering this notebook im absolutely in love with its looks and performance. But im just wondering, does anyone know of a laptop that can perform better for 2800 Canadian (after taxes and shipping fee of 35 dollars)? Or perform the same for less?

    I'd take a look at the Asus Z71v. It has 6600 go card which is very close to the x700 in the Ferrari. Unlike the Ferrari, it is a configureable machine so you can get it with a 7200RPM hard drive which will increase system performance. You can get this on the Ferrari as well, but you'll have to do it yourself. The Pentium M offers better battery life than the Turion and the Z71v offers a modular battery for when you are not burning discs. Good Luck.

    While the Ferrari has a 5400 RPM hard drive, it is 100 GB and it's faster than most 5400 RPM drives. I was concerned about not having a 7200 RPM drive but now that I have my Ferrari 4000 I am pleased with the performance.

    I'm going on two weeks with my Ferrari 4000, and in every way this is the coolest laptop out there that I've seen or owned. I browsed laptops for months and the Ferrari absolutely stands out from the crowd. It performs as good as it looks too.

    My Ferrari always gets 3.5 hours of continuous use from one battery charge and they have already released a modular battery for the DVD drive (it's not painted red yet, as it is for the 8104). Also, and I haven't verified this fact yet, the 100gb 5400 rpm drive has a denser platter than the 60gb drive and this results in higher data transfer rates for the 100gb drive despite the slower RPM rating.

    The Ferrari 4000 will out handle ANY 6600 GO based notebook in gaming and probably most X700 as well due to the Ferrari 4000 unusually high factory clocked X700.

    Edit: Just for clarifications, I'm talking about the Ferrari 4005wlmi. not the 4002wlmi model as it has a slower CPU model.

    the Asus Z71v is garbage. my dad has one and he always *****es about how the keyboard makes so much noice (which it does) when typing and over all its a clunker. It just doesnt feel right.

    yes it is true that the 100gb 5400rpm that comes with the ferrari has better data read then other 5400rpm based notebook hd.

    I have a hitachi 80gb 7200rpm drive in my ferrari and it feels far better in terms of access time. With the segate drive that came with the ferrari, the access time were noticeably slower.
    I would say that the Segate HD was the bottleneck for this laptop. I love the way my hitachi 80gb never gives me long hd reads.

    I sodl my segate on ebay and got this htiachi drive for the same price $140 USD. IMO, it was worth losing the 20gb for a much faster drive.
