I've been using my acer 8920 and keeping it turned on 24 hours a day for about 7 days in a row because i'm downloading a huge amount of files altogether and want to save times and i'm not planning to turn it off until it's done downloading (but i restarted it once in a while). I'm wondering if this will not do any harm to my laptop because except downloading, i haven't used it for any other heavy processes, such as high fps gaming (but i did watched several bluray movies n installed some programs within the days of downloading process). Have u guys have any experience about this? thx for sharing..

it's not an issue as long as the laptop temperatures are kept under control.

As long as it is kept cool. I suggest you purchase a notebook cooler if you dont have one.

I think you should undervolt your laptop to cool it further to make sure that the fan will not turn on (I think mine turns on at 51C), because i tried what you are doing right now but to a lesser extent and the fan now makes a really loud noise. But after "resting" the laptop for a days, it does not make the loud fan noise anymore.

Would u mind posting the d/l link..? Actually the 51-55C is my gpu, i don't know about the cpu and the hdd temp..
