I have an Aspire 2000 and I disabled the wireless being active on boot, but I want to change it back. But it was long time ago and I can't remember how to do it. It was in a somewhat obscure place, as I recall, as a checkbox. Anyone remember?

Can you elaborate a little more? Are you talking about the wifi starting before login or are you talking about an issue regarding manual activation of the connection (ie having to click "connect" in the connection manager?)

The Aspire has a a button on the front right edge that glows orange when the wireless is enabled. If you press it, it is disabled. You can have it started up enabled or disabled, when you boot the machine. I can't remember how I changed the setting to start disabled.

Open the Launch Manager options window. There should be an option called:
Wireless LAN Boot Status
Change it to Wireless LAN always ON.
Now I don't have an Aspire 2000 so the options may be a little different for you. -
I didn't found this option. But I know that in my aspire 1692 when you shut down the laptop with the wifi on, when you turn on the computer when it arrives to the login screen of windows the led of the computer starts to ligh and finds the wifi.
And of course, when it arrives to windows desktop I've got internet acces.
Enable Aspire wireless on boot?
