    Hey guys,

I just got the Aspire 1810t last night and upgraded my OS to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I finally got all the right drivers on here and launch manager which fixed my Fn keys, however the Fn+F1 still doesn't work, that is what launches the power manager.

I'm only getting 5 hrs battery life without it, so I'm really hoping someone can tell me how to reinstall the epower manager and empowering technology software...I checked all over google and acer's website and they didn't have downloads of the software for my model, anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Thanks.

    any thoughts?

I still have no idea how to get the epower utility to work on my laptop, can't seem to find the software anywhere online for the 1810t model, I tried installing the Vista version I saw linked on these forums and it didn't work.

I went from Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Ultimate, had it before, now it's gone :/

I've got an 1810tz that came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and it didn't come with any power management software installed when I bought it. Perhaps Acer haven't written a 64-bit version yet? I can't see anything on the Acer website either.

Regarding the battery life, I'm fairly sure you can optimise battery life without additional software. Two things to keep an eye on are the power profile in use (power saving/balanced/high performance), and the Intel graphics tool's power option - which also has a high performance setting (Look in graphics options > Power)

On your TZ, when you hit Fn+F1 you don't get a power optimizing software popup? That's what I used to get before I installed Ultimate and now that button does nothing, I'm 99% certain that was called epower management and I see the same thing available for other models.

The reason I want it is because it had a simple way to do power save, on Windows when I hit power save it just dims the screen, but with Epower it would slow the processor, it would turn aero off, dim the screen, and lower fanspeeds all with one button.

have you found a solution for that problem? I have exactly the same! I even installed epower management (from the acer website) but it doesn't appear in the tray nor when hitting FN+f1

okay, but still I'm not sure if I really want to use this software as it's designed for vista and probably has less support for a) my modell b) power management of win7... :/
can u tell me what you can adjust by hitting fn+f1?

Actually I think if you need the Empowering Technology for just Epower management it is not worth it .... the only good thing about it is that you can turn off stuff you cant normally turn off using windows like lan or express card + the usual stuff u can do with windows like wireless & bluetooth and also control graphics performance all of these stuff on demand so u can re enable then when u need giving u ++ battery life but still you can use other good features like Enet management & Epresentation management

ePower management was preinstalled on my 1810TZ. It was simply running in the background, apparently doing nothing. I uninstalled it and didn't encounter any problems, battery life didn't change either. Fn+F1 opens Windows7 built-in power management Window.
Of course you need Launch Manager for the special keys. I am using version 3.0.06 from the application and drivers disc (which was also preinstalled).

okay so I think the main problem is my launch manager as neither the FN+F1 combination works, nor the Fn+F5 or +F6. Do I need to install any other software for it to work properly? I just have the version from the application/drivers disk like you, michael.

@Mahmoud: I've tried all those apps you linked for me (thx) but I'm afraid they didn't help me with my problem.

@michael: the newest from the web which is 3.0.0.2. Actually I think the problem is win32, I think that most of acer's effort has been in 64 apps/drivers. So now I've installed win64 and will see how it works with that. Tell you in a minute ;)

update: it works perfectly fine with the 64bit version! yay! only question to answer: what the hell is "epower" for?!
