    Hello to All,

My grandson just upgraded his ACER 5315 from Vista to MS7 and is having a problem with the empowering technology hanging up during boot-up. It appears to be loading 8 items related to the empowering technology and hangs on number 8 (eRestore). I guess my questions are follows:

    1. Can we delete this empowering technology software from the computer safely and utilize Windows 7 to do some/most of those functions? If we can, then how do we go about doing so?

    2. If we cannot live without them, then how do we go about correcting the aforementioned issue. Bear in mind he no longer has the discs that came with the laptop.

    Thanks in advance

You can safely uninstall Empowering Technology.
Launch the computer in safe mode (F8 at boot and choose safe mode).
Since Windows installer doesn't work in safe mode you should go to msconfig (press Win button + R and type msconfig) go to start-up tab and uncheck all Empowering Technology related processes.
Reboot (it should start normally as these processes that you will have unchecked won't be running at startup anymore) Last step- uninstall Empowering Technology.
