Hi, was hoping some of you guys could give me a hand with a problem I have.

I recieved a 22" samsung LCD monitor for christmas. Plugged it into my Acer Aspire 5003WLMi running a SiS M760GX driver and up it went.

The resolution on the 22" monitor when set was perfect, I just have a problem where for some reason my resolution on my laptop shrunk.

When I go onto properties, settings to change the resolution of the laptop back it simply makes the desktop bigger than the screen. This meaning I can scroll left and down on the screen to show the rest of the desktop. I would like to make my laptop a better resolution as it was before however it isn't happening for me.

Does anybody have any ideas? Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

Hi, I had exactly the same problem and not finding any solutions on the net, I attempted to solve the issue myself. I finally found a solution which works. It's actually quite simple.

All you need to do is change your primary monitor (laptop monitor in my case) to 16-bit rather than 32-bit. I will tell you know, allocating more memory to your video card doesn't allow you to have 32-bit on both screens and you can't change the external to 16-bit. It just won't work. (Rather frustrating)

However, I will assume that it isn't a major issue if you are running a SIS M760GX and wasn't a major factor in purchasing your system/notebook.

Anyhow, hope that all helps. Cheers!

similar thing happens to me when i plug in my external LCD into the 5672 running omega drivers. I never had a problem with the original ATI drivers.

the laptop screen goes to being a square instead of widescreen. i just to into display properties and change it.
