I just got a as3004wlmi and it says the region is wrong for a DVD I put in. It says I can only change the region 5 times. Currently it says it is on region zero. Because it says I can only change it 5 times, I didn't change it yet. does anyone have any information. thanks

if you're in the us, then region 1. Wherever else you are, just change it to that region...

actually, region 0 is region free. it's surprising that it isn't working. i would consider using a software like dvdregionfree.

How would you alter the DVD region? Is their some sort of setting you use? I would just like to know for future reference

you go to my computer, right click the dvd drive>properties> hardware> select the dvd drive> properties and there's a region tab

Remember of course that the 5th change will PERMENANTLY change it.

Best to use software if at all possible (alternatively you can try drive flashing, but this has the potential to leave your DVD drive in a state where it's as useful as a doormouse)

It doesn't matter where do you order it from - Europe has region 2, America region 1 and so on... The only way to override region changes when using DVDs from different regions is using software like DVDRegionFree or AnyDVD or changing firmware and then using software like RegionKiller etc.

uhhhh, but then why can I change the region on my computer Jaad? I can change it say it was on region two, I can just go and change it to the united states which is region 1 without any software. I just tried went to the options and say I could do that. KidA just stated you could too. But only five times, and then you'll need to sue software.

Then your DVD drive is locked on last region you set. If you have DVDs from different regions you will have to change region every time you change DVD... If you install software like AnyDVD you can forget about regions at all.

dvd drives onlyl allow for 5 region changes so after your 5th, youre done unless you reflash it or something which is why people who have dvds from different regions just use a program.

Oh, so that's why. Could someone send me a link to one of these programs for future reference (I may be ordering Acer Aspire 9804 from Europe), and it may be helpful.

I've read if you dload windows media player classic, it will play any region dvd. I tried it. It plays up until the menu then it crashes. I'm asking some to help.
