Hi and thanks for reading my post!

I have Aspire 1413 and want to buy a new DVD drive. The only problem is I have no idea how to make sure it works with the notebook. The resellers always state to make sure the drive you buy works in your machine, but how can we do that? Any specs to watch for?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

The build form is nearly identical of all slimline DVD drives. But the front of the DVD drive is from notebook to notebook and from DVD drive to DVD drive very unique! Most DVD drives are build into a notebook producer related frame. If you do not have two left hands and if you have the proper tools it is not a big deal to change the optical drive.
The best is to bring your notebook to a notebook dealer you trust and let the drive change.

The LiteOn in my Acer has been a headache since the start. It's basically not capable of reading anything now. I am considering an LG.
BTW I have tried to disassemble it today according to the original assembly guide for 1410 only to find out 1413 differs in the placement of the screw that holds the optical drive frame. what a headache :-(
