I removed the D: partition from my 5920G using the diskmgmt.msc command because I wanted to use an external HD to put by backups on. My C: partition expanded to approximately 140GB. Now it won't backup at all to the external HD or to DVD's. So I tried to put the D: partition back on but only succeeded in reducing the size of the C: partition.

Well, I decided it was time to run the eRecovery DVD's that I had made. Everything was going along fine until the "Acer Launch" box popped up and went through "8/9 processes...Install eRecovery Solution...Please wait." There it gets stuck. I left the laptop on overnight, and was still there this morning. I re-booted and it comes back.

By the way, I didn't get my D: partition back. Can anyone help? Thanks.

OK. I reloaded again from my recovery disks and made sure that the laptaop didn't try updating via the internet. Everything is working fine on bootup, but I still don't have a D: partition and the C: partition is still small than what it used to be. Since there is no D:, I cannot do any backups to a HD or to DVD using eRecovery. Any ideas? BTW, this was a VERY BAD IDEA.

From what you are describing it sounds like you have unallocated disk space on your hard drive. To fix that you will need to get a disk management utility and fix that problem. Acronis disk director suite is a good disk management program but it isn't free. So I would suggest you do some looking around and see what you can find. Of course if you are running vista I think vista's built in disk management is capable of doing this but I am not sure.
