    Hi all,

I have an Acer Travelmate 6252, using an Intel GM965 Chipset and Celeron M 530 CPU with 479mPGA socket. Is there a way I can upgrade it to a Core 2 Duo?

My Celeron is killing me, its so hot and only has a 2 hour battery life!

Pls contact me at "[email protected]" or you can add me on facebook at "tachyio met"

    Thank you :)

i'll PM you with a different link about UPGRADING CPUS,, this link is for collecting info about what models have successfully been upgraded,, and what CPUs work with those models...

i'm sure you'll find many people here willing to help,,, but always remember to use the SEARCH feature at the top right corner before asking a question,,, most issues have been addressed before and you can often find your own answers and learn things along the way

    later,
    bigO

temp is wrong mooler,, download RMclock,, u can use it to underclock the CPU saving MORE battery power,,, and generating less heat..

see the CPU UNDERVOLTING GUIDE in the hardware and upgrade thread

my T5450 works STABLE at 0.95v across all multipliers and it's temps are actually correct

i downgraded my bios back to 1.33 for now....
just waiting for ACER to wake up

everyone need to email ACER about a power issue w/ V 1.34 and the Acaida motherboard... even call and talk to tech.... describe issuses w/ 1.34,,, cold reboot issue,, temp sensors,, (think they know they fixed the sound prob) :D :D

but thats when the cold boot issue and the temps sensor started

don't mention upgraded CPUs... they could attempt to void your warranty and give you hastles

    later,
    bigO

Check out BigO's guide its for 5315 but its almost the same.
I upgraded my T2370 with T7500, it took me 10 minutes to remove the panel, the heatsink, clean it all, put the new cpu, put the thermal paste and collect all the pieces together :)

Try Ebay, even if you find a place to buy new CPU the price is HUGE. For example the price for new T7500 in Spain is around 240 Euros, I got my T7500 from Ebay for 89 Euros.

I just tried to replace my ASUS's CPU(Celeron M 360 1.4ghz) with T2370. It didn't work(probably because of the bios limitation, the cpu physically fits), can't power on the laptop. But what freak me out is that the CPU has some kind of a sticker(probably the brand new CPUs have this to prevent scratches), covering the place where the thermal paste should be applied. Well the smart guys from the store didn't remove the sticker, but applied the paste all over it..and I'm wondering why the CPU overheats when watching youtube videos for example(95ºC !!!!).
I removed the sticker, cleaned the cpu and applied AS5 and now I'm watching youtube videos with completely save temp of 60-61ºC.
But..OMG is this stupid or what.

I thought I should share this for the users with unexplicable temp issues, and say OMG again.
